Reimagining the language of embroidery
Gold Kesi is a contemporary artistic medium that translates the visual language of traditional East Asian embroidery into layers of precious metal. Rather than silk threads, thousands of digitally choreographed "needle strokes" are rendered in microscopic gold, creating surfaces with the texture, rhythm, and luminosity of embroidered tapestry.
Each artwork is composed from individually designed stitch structures. Drawing inspiration from centuries of embroidery — including satin stitch, couching, seed stitch, split stitch, knot stitch, long-and-short stitch, and dozens of other traditional techniques — every element is assigned its own unique needle language. Flowers bloom through layered stitches, clouds unfurl in flowing curves, and architectural forms emerge through precise geometric patterns.

Gold Kesi is experienced as much through changing light as through the image itself.
Every microscopic stitch possesses its own orientation, profile, and reflective quality. As light moves across the surface, different stitch structures catch and release light at different moments, allowing subtle highlights, shadows, and textures to emerge naturally. The artwork continually reveals new layers of detail throughout the day — much like woven silk, embroidered textiles, or finely engraved metal.
The result is a surface with extraordinary visual depth — one that invites viewers to look closer, discovering the craftsmanship embedded within every section of the composition.
Composition
Millions of digital stitches
Every Gold Kesi artwork begins as an original composition before being translated into an intricate map of digital needlework.
Rather than painting with brushstrokes, artists compose with stitches. Each area is carefully interpreted through a combination of embroidery and heritage craft techniques, with precise control over stitch direction, density, length, layering, and transitions. These decisions determine not only the visual texture of the artwork, but also how its surface interacts with light.
A single piece may contain millions of individually designed digital stitches, each contributing to the rhythm, dimensionality, and character of the final work. Like traditional embroidery, no two passages are treated alike; every motif is thoughtfully interpreted according to its form, movement, and material presence.

Process
Our Process
Creating a Gold Kesi artwork is an interdisciplinary process that brings together artistic interpretation, textile design, and precision metal craftsmanship.
Each composition begins with a close study of the original artwork or concept. Artists develop a bespoke visual language for every piece, carefully refining its composition, stitchwork, material palette, surface treatments, and ornamental techniques to best express the character of the work. Depending on the artistic vision, this may incorporate traditional crafts such as relief carving, jade inlay, gemstone inlay, mother-of-pearl, and other heritage techniques alongside Gold Kesi's signature digital stitchwork. Every element—from flowing robes and mountain ridges to feathers, foliage, and architectural details—is considered individually before becoming part of the larger composition.
Only then is the design translated into precious metal through Ekin's proprietary fabrication process, where each microscopic detail is faithfully realized with exceptional precision, preserving the depth, texture, and luminous character of the finished work.
