Five Deities

The Five Deities collection is an original work created by Ekin in collaboration with renowned Thangka master Golog Sherab, whose lifelong dedication to Tibetan Buddhist painting has helped preserve and advance one of the Himalayan world's most revered artistic traditions. Recognized as a national representative inheritor of Thangka painting, Golog Sherab continues a lineage in which artistic mastery is inseparable from cultural heritage and spiritual practice.

The composition depicts the Five Wealth Deities (五路财神), revered figures in Tibetan Buddhist tradition who are associated with prosperity, protection, generosity, and the removal of obstacles. Together, they represent the many dimensions of abundance—not simply material prosperity, but the conditions that allow wisdom, generosity, compassion, and well-being to flourish. Each deity is distinguished by one of the five sacred colors of Tibetan Buddhism: green for enlightened activity and growth, yellow for abundance and generosity, red for compassion and vitality, white for purity and clarity, and blue for wisdom and boundless awareness. Together, these colors create a balanced composition that reflects the harmonious interplay of enlightened qualities while preserving a visual tradition refined over centuries of Himalayan art.

The composition is realized through Ekin's proprietary Gold Kesi technique, translating the extraordinary precision of Thangka painting into a richly textured surface of precious metal. Gold is used to illuminate the intricate crowns, ritual implements, and sacred ornament surrounding each deity, while the traditional palette of vivid mineral colors preserves the richness and symbolic meaning that define classical Thangka painting. Intricate Gold Kesi stitchwork captures the remarkable complexity of the flowing robes, lotus blossoms, celestial motifs, and decorative borders, while deep relief carving introduces an exceptional sense of sculptural depth. The raised forms lend the deities a striking physical presence, recalling the dimensional richness of Himalayan temple sculpture and ritual objects while preserving the refinement of Thangka painting. As light moves across the surface, the composition reveals layers of texture and shadow that give the figures an almost three-dimensional presence.
